My mom always had me in the kitchen helping with cooking while my brother played video games and waited for dinner. When my dad, who worked in Zanzibar, was away, I was miserable with all the chores. I hated cooking and only learned when I moved to Malaysia for school. I believe boys should be taught to cook and clean too. My brother struggled when we moved to the UK and had to fend for himself, a skill we both should have learned young. If I have kids, I’ll ensure they all learn these skills, as it’s an opportunity everyone deserves.” — Paula (2024)
