In developing countries such as Nigeria, the importance of education goes beyond just the enlightenment of the mind. A person who gets an education and secures a “respectful job” is a straight ticket out of lack into abundance for their family #BlackTax. Often, parents dictate to their children the profession they ought to engage in, and it usually revolves around being a doctor, an engineer, or a lawyer. In Nigeria, the title of “Mama Doctor” (mother of a doctor) sometimes carries the same prestige as the title of the First Lady. So it is little wonder why my guest on this episode was denied the freedom to choose a career path based on the things she loved, such as painting, speaking, or art. Years after pursuing an “acceptable” career in pharmacy and feeling empty, she stepped out to where she truly belongs and is currently on a mission to liberate others caught in a similar web.

Dr. Peace Uche is a doctor of pharmacy, transformational rhythmic speaker, empowerment guru, and radio show personality. She has guided hundreds of women in creating a life they deserve and desire by owning their innate gifts & talents and pursuing their passions.

Born in America to Nigerian parents and raised by a single mother and her three siblings, Dr. Peace learned to “get it going” from a young age. Her mother taught her to focus on her goals and get an education, which she did and became a pharmacist. After almost six years of practice and “making bank,” Dr. Peace realized something was missing. She felt there was more to her and that her purpose was more significant than where she had settled. Despite the money and the fine things attached to the job, she decided to quit pharmacy and begin a career as a life coach.

Dr. Peace refers to herself as an “empowerment guru,” empowering her clients to live confidently and equip them with the tools required to achieve their purpose. Her job is different from a therapist or clinical psychologist in that she provides a self-paced coaching program that helps her clients improve their lives, plan…
