We, as women, are not the problem — we don’t need to be ‘fixed.’ The systems and legislation in many countries need to change. Cultural differences introduce unique barriers for women. In some places, women aren’t allowed to socialize after work, while caregiving expectations and restrictions on mobility affect their networking opportunities. Despite these cultural variations, systemic challenges consistently emerge across the globe, proving that these issues are far-reaching in academia and beyond.” — Dr. Watson (2024)

“You don’t have to do everything alone — no one can. A common theme in my book interviews is the importance of asking for help. It doesn’t make you less capable. Many successful women I spoke with created their networks when none existed. Be bold; don’t wait for someone else to make the first move. People often ask, ‘What if they don’t respond?’ But I ask, ‘What if they do?’ Persistence and determination are key. Be brave, ask for help, and build your network if one doesn’t exist.
