“When I lost my dad, it was an incredibly challenging time. He had stage four pancreatic cancer, and we knew he didn’t have long. On the day he died, I went to church, hiding my tears behind a face mask and big glasses. That same day, a young girl approached me for a hug and prayed for me, unaware of my grief. The next week, the same girl showed me her brother’s suicide note and said she was planning to commit suicide. Despite my father’s condition worsening, I chose to take her to my house for counseling. At that moment, I knew my dad was passing, but I stayed with her and said, ‘My dad is passing this minute, but I chose to be here. Make it count. Don’t ever consider ending your life.’ She was amazed, and it was a powerful moment of God’s use of me, even in my pain.” — KSA (2024)
