Life is not without its obstacles and hurdles; while it’s okay to fall against one of them, it is not okay to remain on the ground. Yet, for every obstacle she has experienced, Sola Adewumi, my guest on this week’s episode, has bounced back stronger and wiser.
Sola is a Nigerian based in Canada, a wife and mother of two, and presently studying for her nursing degree. Sola and I are cousins who started out not liking each other but have developed a close friendship over the years.
At several instances in her life, Sola has encountered failure. For example, she recalled having to repeat multiple classes during her secondary education partly due to the deterioration of her sight — an eventual diagnosis of retinitis pigmentosa. Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) is a group of rare genetic disorders that involve a breakdown and loss of cells in the retina — a sensitive tissue that lines the back of the eyes.
