In addition to family pressure single ladies experience, society as a whole also contributes their quota through hurtful comments, gossips, and discrimination. In places like Lagos State, Nigeria, some landlords are skeptical about renting their houses to single women for various reasons. The ladies are required to provide a male surety before they can get a roof over their heads, irrespective of their financial capacities to foot the bill. Jirade requested that society treat single people with respect as they are humans too and matter.

For many young ladies, being happily married to the love of their life is a compulsory item on their life’s bucket list. It is common to meet ladies who have already envisioned their wedding day even though they have no partners. But the harsh reality of life is that not everyone gets to experience this dream day as early as they envisaged.
