In May 2020, the world watched in horror as clips of George Floyd’s murder were circulated first on social media and then on the world stage. Subsequently, protests against police brutality, racism, and social injustice rocked the US, UK, and other major cities of the world. At the heart of this widespread protest were the diverse Gen Z and the younger millennial generation, nicknamed the “woke generation.” Never before has any generation of young people been more outspoken about politics, racial equality, mental health, gender equality, sexuality, and other social issues. It is, therefore, no surprise that they are also questioning the traditional patterns of the work environment and creating new career paths for themselves.
