Thriving with Retinitis Pigmentosa
도전과 성장|The One with Sola Adewumi — A Journey of Resilience & Breaking Generational Patterns: Episode 23 (2024)
“I want to stand out, whatever it costs me. I want my story to be different, and I’m willing to do whatever it takes. No matter how many times I fail, I just want to keep getting up. Even if I’m crawling, I want to keep moving.” — Sola (2024)
She’s back! The last time my cousin, Sola Adewumi, was on the show, she was just beginning her journey into nursing school in Canada. Despite already holding a Master’s degree in communication and navigating life with Retinitis Pigmentosa — a genetic disorder that causes gradual retinal degeneration and eventual blindness — Sola was ready to take on this new path. Now, as a thriving third-year nursing student, Sola reflects on her journey, the challenges she has faced, and the resilience and confidence she has built. Her strength has not only transformed her life but has shaped her children as well.
Sola’s story is a testament to determination, positivity, and faith. With God’s support and encouragement from her school and professors, she faces the demands of nursing school and realizes she is never alone. Confidence, too, has blossomed through her studies — a crucial asset as she moves forward.
