The same things you were bullied about as a child are the very same things that make you a unique adult.”

This week, our episode features our Nigerian creative, Koli Ori Akpet — a singer, writer, and poet. Inspiring, right? We think so too. Oh, and he’s a lawyer too. I’d like to believe we all have some creativity in us. Some, more than others, and Koli is no exception. He is so talented, and it was an honor to chat with him.

Cross River

The conversation starts with Koli and me speaking about his name, culture, and where he comes from. He comes from an area called the Cross River, a state in the South-South part of Nigeria. He shares how his tribe is also not common, often confused with the more common ones like Igbo. He’s excited to learn I know about where he comes from and his tribe.
